Animated GIFs are popular on the web but the GIF standard is actually an old and rather inefficient technology best suited for low-resolution animations with few keyframes. Support for transparency is also a key feature of the GIF standard.
In general, the result will be better if you use video clips instead of GIF animations.
In general, the result will be better if you use video clips instead of GIF animations.
If you avoid the below situations you will have no problem inserting GIFs in Wideo.
- If your GIF animation is actually a video clip (not an animation with distinct keyframes) converted to a GIF animation:
- Use the original source video clip if available or convert the GIF back to a video clip (for example MP4)
- If the GIF animation has a high resolution:
- Reduce the resolution and/or the number of keyframes.
- If the GIF animation has many keyframes:
- Reduce the number of keyframes and/or resolutions.
Wideo will not allow uploading of too complex (too high resolution and/or too many keyframes) GIF animations to avoid performance problems when editing your wideo, and to allow your MP4 download to work efficiently.
We will let you know when you need to take action with an informative message in the Wideo editor.
